​​Etna is the highest active volcano in Europe (3,350 meters) and is a UNESCO site and is truly an excursion to do at least once in a lifetime, accessible to all. Its craters, landscapes, breathtaking views, the almost lunar dimension will leave the visitor with an indelible memory of an extraordinary experience.​

​Meeting in Reggio Calabria or Villa San Giovanni. Boarding on a regular ferry for a charming crossing of the Strait of Messina with a spectacular panorama. At the narrowest point, the two shores are only 3.2 km apart. Disembarkation in Messina and continuation by minibus/private car to reach the Etna station at 1,900 meters (Rifugio Sapienza). Around 10:30 am arrival. Free time. A few steps from the main square are the Silvestri Craters, now extinct, which formed during the 1892 eruption. The lower crater can be circumnavigated independently in a few steps (perfect even for walks with younger children) while the upper crater requires more effort as there is a bit more ascent to do but the view offered is truly enjoyable. Around 3:45 pm departure by minibus/bus/private car to return to the starting places.

ALTITUDE - approx. 3000 meters

At the narrowest point, the two shores are only 3.2 km apart. Disembarkation in Messina and continuation by minibus/private car to reach the Etna station at 1,900 meters (Rifugio Sapienza). Arrival around 10:30 am. Approximately 40 minutes of free time to take a few steps from the main square and reach the Silvestri Craters, now extinct, which formed during the 1892 eruption. The lower Crater can be easily circumnavigated in a few steps (perfect for walks with younger children). Continuing with a cable car that will take you to an altitude of 2500 meters from where you can admire a stunning and unique panoramic view and see all the lava flows that have occurred over the years. Continuing with a 4X4 off-road vehicle with guides authorized by the CAI (Italian Alpine Club) to reach an altitude of 3000 meters. You will see the lower Barbagallo Crater, the Crater from the 2001 eruption. From a plateau, you will see the upper Barbagallo Crater, the still active South-East Crater, and the Central Crater.

Around 3:45 pm departure by minibus/bus/private car for the return to the starting points.
