ETNA - TAORMINA - ISOLA BELLA

DEPARTURES FROM
Reggio Calabria (6.00 a.m.) and Villa San Giovanni (6.20 a.m.)
with return at 7.20/20.00 p.m.

Appointment in Reggio Calabria or Villa San Giovanni. Accommodation in private car/minibus and boarding on scheduled ship for suggestive crossing of the Strait of Messina. Disembarkation in Messina and continuation to Zafferana Etnea (approx. 08:45 a.m.). Continuation in the North-East direction of Etna. Stop inside the Etna Park for a light trekking walk of approximately 40 minutes and visit, with authorised guides, 5 side craters to observe the real size of the craters and all the types of lava, minerals, volcanic desert and pioneer plants on the volcano. Immediately afterwards, with comfortable jeeps or 4×4 minivans, we will drive 2 km off-road to discover the last great eruption on Etna's northern slope. Finally on the eastern slope we will visit, with headlamps and helmets provided by us, some small craters with a volcanic cave inside. Return to Zafferana Etnea with arrival at about 1 p.m. Free time for lunch. Departure for Taormina. Arrival and free time of approximately 2 hours. You can take a walk along the famous Corso Umberto or visit the Teatro Antico, Palazzo Corvaja, Piazza IX Aprile with the Baroque Church of San Giuseppe and the Clock Tower, and the Cathedral of San Nicolò. Appointment for the return journey. Short stop to admire Isola Bella (the islet is world-famous for its particular shape. Joined to the mainland by a thin strip of sand that is covered or uncovered depending on the tides). Continuation to the places of departure in the morning.

The visit to Mount Etna will be carried out in areas of volcanological and scientific interest with a qualified guide to authorised areas in complete safety. Shoes and jackets will be provided free of charge on request.
